About Us
The Africa Insolvency Law Academy (AILA) is an African insolvency academy headquartered in Kigali, Rwanda, with a mission to strengthen the understanding and practice of insolvency law across Africa. In many African countries, insolvency is still viewed as the end of the road for an institution, a failure, but at AILA, we believe it can also be a new beginning.
Our aim at AILA is to reshape how insolvency is perceived and practiced in Africa by providing legal education, building capacity, conducting practical research, and supporting companies in financial distress.
AILA is not just for lawyers. We bring together a multidisciplinary network of lawyers, insolvency practitioners, judges, accountants, financial experts, policymakers, business owners, academics, and students. Through this collaboration, we foster a better understanding of business rescue procedures, and responsible liquidation procedures.
Our work at AILA is rooted in the African experience, ensuring that our programs address the unique realities of insolvency across the continent. We are committed to delivering training that is both relevant and accessible, catering to a wide spectrum of learners; from those seeking foundational knowledge to experienced practitioners aiming to master complex insolvency procedures.
